Fertilisers price drop expected to increase Angola agricultural harvest in 2017

Ther reduction from 25,000 kwanzas to KZ 5,000 of the price of the 50 kg bag of fertiliser will allow the increase of the harvest in the current agricultural season (2016/2017), said the president of the Confederation of the Associations of Peasants and Farming Cooperatives of Angola (Unaca), Albano Lussati.

Speaking to ANGOP about the 2016/2017 agricultural campaign, the president of Unaca said that the first results of the low fertiliser price are already notable in the green zones of Luanda, particularly in Cacuaco area where a large production of maize, Potatoes and onions are taking place.

According to Albano Lussati, the agricultural season has started well and cultivation is underway, as well as the launching of the seeds.

To him it is an action that results from the availability of fertilisers and seeds from the Angolan Government.

According to Unaca president it is great the disposition of the peasants in acquiring the fertilisers.

He also said that throughout the southern region of Angola the cooperatives are receiving type 12, 24, 12 fertilisers, ammonium sulphate and urea.
