The first klinker kiln of the Cimenfort cement factory based in Catumbela Municipality, central Benguela Province, was inaugurated last Monday by the Industry minister, Bernarda Martins.
With the inauguration of this klinker kiln, an undertaking that has cost USD 30 million, the Cimenfort factory has raised its production capacity from 700,000 to 1.4 million tons of cement per year.
Speaking to the press, the minister highlighted the advantages that will result from the production of clinker cement, in comparison to the last five years in which the factory board had to import the raw-material for cement production.
On his turn Paul Hang, president of Cimenfort, said that this project, which is on its second stage since it was created in 2012, is focussing on the utilisation of an integrated system of cement grinding, which enables the doubling of the current production level.
He revealed that the factory has been conceived in three stages of implementation, the third one being the setting up of a clinker cement mill until the year 2019.
The project has employed 280 staffs, 93 per cent of whom are nationals.
