Angola finance minister discusses economy in Washington

Finance minister Archer Mangueira last Wednesday in Washington discussed with the director of the Africa Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Abebe Selassie, the perspectives and recent developments of the Angolan economy.

At the meeting, held on the fringes of the annual meetings of the World Bank (WB) and the IMF, the two officials also analysed the topics that will substantiate the next mission of the IMF to Angola, scheduled for November this year.

Since the new Angolan Executive took office, this will be the first IMF mission to Angola, which is intended for this international financial institution to collect updated information on Angola’s macroeconomic performance, as well as understand the depth of the policies outlined by the new government of Angola that resulted from the last August 23 polls.

On his turn, Abebe Selassie, congratulated the new Angolan government and reiterated the commitment of the IMF to co-operating with Angola in different domains.
