Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation José Pacheco is heading to Russia on Thursday to strengthen bilateral relations and friendship between the two countries, APA has learnt.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation said in statement on Tuesday that in addition to attending the 22nd International Economic Forum in St Petersburg, Pacheco is expected to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

It said the Mozambican official is also expected to meet Russian businessmen as part of efforts to “deepen political, economic, business and social cooperation between two countries.”

Pacheco’s visit was preceded by Lavrov’s mission to Mozambique in March and that by Mozambican Defence Minister Atanásio M’tumuke to Russia last month.

During the visit, which ends next Monday, Pacheco is expected to hold a meeting with the Mozambican community living in Russia.
