Sugar leads list of products imported by Angola

Sugar was the most imported product by Angola in the fourth quarter of 2017, with 121,621 tons against 91,898 tons recorded in 2016 representing an increase of 32,34 in relation to prior period.

According to 2017 fourth quarter data of the Statistic Bulletin of the National Shippers Council (CNC), the previous period recorded an increase of 29,722 tons, although there is an industrial initiative of the Biocom Company to provide sugar to the domestic market.

In 2016/2017, the Malanje-based Biocom Company produced 51,514 tons of sugar surpassing the established goal of 47,000 tons, in 2018 the company intends to produce 100,000 of sugar and reach the goal of 256 tons in 2022.

According to the bulletin, wheat was the second most imported product with 103,164 tons (6, 99%) against the 136,584 tons recorded in 2016 representing an import drop of 33.420.

In the referred period, the statistic bulletin selected 100 products that were imported during the fourth quarter of 2017, whose total of import was of 1,2 million tons (83,33%) representing an increase of 7,940 tons.
