Angola: Luanda Port with less flow of commodities in first trimester

The port of Luanda recorded a reduction in its flow of commodities during the first trimester this year with 1.4 million tons, which represents a 509,584 tons drop compared to 2017.

Speaking to Angop, the commercial administrator of the port, Manuel Zangui, said that the drastic reduction is due to the current economic financial hardships that Angola is facing.

However, he recalled that most part of the commodities that pass through the port is imported due to the poor domestic production of the country, which reverted the course of activities of the company from an exporter to products importer.

Currently, Luanda Port is operating below its installed capacity, estimated at 15 million tons of miscellaneous merchandise / year.
