Air Namibia launched its latest service on 29 June, a triangular route encompassing Windhoek (WDH), Lagos (LOS) and Accra (ACC), with it having traffic right between the Nigerian and Ghanaian cities.
Flights on the Windhoek – Lagos – Accra operation will be offered four times weekly, with the Namibian carrier scheduled to link the African cities using its fleet of A319s. The 3,574-kilometre link between Windhoek and Lagos faces no direct competition, and neither does the 3,653-kilometre city pairing of Windhoek and Accra.
However the short 399-kilometre sector between Nigeria and Ghana is well served by six incumbents, with Africa World Airlines, Air Peace, Arik Air, ASKY Airlines, Med-View Airline and Fly Mid Africa offering 62 weekly departures between them.
Apart from the carrier’s service between Windhoek and Frankfurt, the direct flight between the Namibian capital and Lagos becomes the airline’s second-longest sector, and its longest within the intra-African market.
