Angola: AfDB funds agricultural projects in Cuemba and Cunhinga districts

The African Development Bank (AfDB) is to finance next year integrated local agricultural projects for peasants in Cunhinga and Cuemba municipalities, Bié province, in an initiative of the Angolan Government.

The head of the delegation of the African Development Bank (ADB) Jean Marie Meng, during a working visit to Bié for a consultation with farmers and economic agents held in Cunhinga municipality, said that the institution will support the programs of to help the region grow.

He said that the idea is to support peasants in Cunhinga and Cuemba municipalities, through associations and cooperatives, as well as to integrate young people in the crop, namely corn, beans, soybeans, sweet potatoes and sweet potatoes, manioc, sesame, peanuts and others.

The implementation of the projects will count on the partnership of the Ministries of Youth and Sports, Social Action, Environment, Agriculture, Transport and others.

In turn, the representative of the Angolan Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Felizmino da Costa, acknowledged the commitment of the AfDB to finance projects in the field of agriculture in the country.
