‘The New Spirit of Africa’ is ready to take over the African skies after another signing a $30 million relaunch deal with Zambia Airways.

Africa’s largest airline by revenue and profit Ethiopian Airlines has been poised to take charge over African skies with its promising take-over of African airlines as it seeks to gain a competitive edge over its rivals in the aviation sector. The national flag carrier has entered into agreements with a number of airlines to manage them as they look to have a piece of the sky.

The recent news surrounding the Best Airline in Africa is the relaunching of Zambia Airways. Zambia’s national carrier penned a $30 million relaunching deal with the Ethiopian in which the latter will own at least 45% of the revamped airline. The move is not rare as the formerly Ethiopian Air Lines has been in contact with Chad and Djibouti over similar agreements.

Founded in 1964, Zambia Airways operated only until 1995 when it ceased operations owing to harsh economic climate both domestically and internationally. During its early times before its liquidation, the company has enjoyed long-haul flights in Africa and beyond. It routes trans-versed the African border to Europe and Asia. With the new plans to relaunch the airline, it is expected to kick off its operations domestically and seek intercontinental routes afterwards.

The aid of Ethiopian Airlines will boost the morale of Zambia Airways and give it an impetus to get back on its feet swiftly. The financial support will go a long way into establishing back the former glory of Zambia Airways. A number of airlines seek to be more competitive including Uganda Airlines which is undergoing technical metamorphosis to be competitive.

The lucrative sector of aviation has prompted Governments to pay attention to the national carrier’s and revive the industry in their sectors to reap benefits from their production. Having outpaced Kenya Airways, Ethiopian is looking to be stronger and soar higher than ever with more partnerships.
