Forwarding and logistics firm Agility has started work on a 29ha warehouse park at Marracuene, near Maputo in Mozambique, laying the foundation stone in the presence of provincial governor, Raimundo Maico Diomba.

The new park, on the city’s ring road, will provide 175,000sq m of space and is part of a network of international parks that Agility is funding and developing across key markets in Africa to stimulate foreign direct investment, trade and job creation.

Agility Warehouse Parks will offer undisturbed power and IT connectivity along with top level security with both standard and built-to-suit units for storage, distribution, light manufacturing, processing and packing.

Agility Africa chief executive Geoffrey White, said: “The new Agility Warehouse Park in Maputo enables companies, whether multinationals or small and medium enterprises, to access quality infrastructure easily, quickly and cost effectively.”

The first phase in Mozambique will provide 32,000sq m of warehousing and will be operational in the second quarter of 2019.
