Angola and Russia discussed the best ways to cooperate in different areas of mineral resources and oil, during the preparation meeting of the 5th ordinary session of the two countries’ Bilateral Cooperation Commission, taking place since Wednesday, in Moscow.
The Russian experts’ team is being led by Nuritdin Inamov, director of the exchange department of the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry, while Angola is led by Luís Antonio, director of the exchange department of the Oil and Mineral Resources Ministry.
The Angolan team also includes the embassy’s counsellor-minister, the chairmen of the boards of directors of Endiama (minerals) and Sonangol (crude-oil) as well as the director of the Angolan Geologic Institute and technicians of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Russian government has also shown interest in Angolan diamonds stating that there are strong indications for new reserves discoveries, so many Russian companies are ready to enter Angola.
Russia’s Alrosa Company expressed satisfaction with performance of Angola’s Catoca Mining Society (the world’s fourth largest open -pit-mining project) as well as with the new exploration concession to Kimang consortium.
Russian companies also seek to establish partnerships with Angolan gold exploration firms, and such interest was expressed in the joint meeting of experts of Angola-Russia intergovernmental cooperation committee.
