Mozambique: Metical mostly unchanged against the Euro, US dollar

The exchange rate of the Mozambican currency unit the metical remained almost unchanged against the Euro and the US dollar during the last week, according to daily exchange rates released by the Central Bank and followed by Lusa.

 

For the third consecutive time, the last week was shorter for the foreign exchange market, with four rather than five trading days due to the special holiday decreed on Wednesday the 10th for the local elections nationwide.

During the last week, the Euro was bought in the country at an average of 68.99 meticais, 25 metical cents less than the previous week, while sale was made on average at 70.37 meticais, or 26 metical cents less.

The US dollar – the currency used as the basis for calculating the reference exchange rates for all other currencies in Mozambique – was bought on average in the last week at 59.88 meticais, 7 metical cents less than the previous week, while the sale was made on average at 61.08 meticais, also 7 metical cents less.
