Angola and Spain cooperate in maritime security

The Angolan and Spanish navies are engaged in deepening cooperation in order to ensure the patrol of the coasts of Guinean Gulf and to combat piracy, illegal trade and smuggling.

In this context, the Angolan patrol ship “P-72 Centinela”, coordinated by the corvette captain, Fernando Garcia Tobio, who in Angola with 54 crew members, promotes the exchange of experience in maritime security and improves diving, as well as operations of approach, control of merchant traffic, among others.

For the Angolan sea captain Venâncio Oliveira, this interaction is of the utmost importance, since it aims to put an end to the violation of maritime borders, as well as other evils that threaten the neighboring countries.

The ship left Spain last August, passing through Mauritania, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and will remain in Angola until Sunday, the day it will continue to Libreville and Gabon.

The journey by the countries of the Gulf of Guinea is part of the mission of the European Union to oversee and guarantee maritime security in the region.
