Angola outline strategies for livestock rebreeding

The director of the Office of Agriculture and Forestry in Huambo province, Abrantes Carlos, defended Saturday in the municipality of Caála the need for the medium- and long-term re-development of beef cattle production and its multiplication, as a way to stimulate food self-sufficiency.

Abrantes Carlos highlighted this fact during the cattle exhibition held at the Center for Genetic Multiplication and Animal Breeding in the commune of Calenga, 33 kilometers from the city of Huambo, in parallel with the first edition of the local production fair, opened last Thursday in the capital city of Huambo.

The director of agriculture informed that the sector that he directs will, as of this year, bet on the recovery and revitalization of economic agents with business projects in the area of livestock and, therefore, increase the production of the bovine population.

Abrantes Carlos said that the Office of Agriculture and Forestry will also create a program for cattle re-breeding and its re-population in rural communities, according to the potential they present, as well as the increase of business projects in the livestock sector.
