The government of Cabo Verde has approved the draft law establishing the Public Finance Council, an independent entity that will work with the prime minister’s office, the minister of the presidency of the council of ministers recently announced.

Fernando Elísio Freire, taking stock of the Council of Ministers meeting, said that the Public Finance Council will assess the macroeconomic scenarios, the consistency of the forecasts and analyse the dynamics of public debt as well as the financial situation of Cabo Verde.

The Minister of the Presidency said that the Council will be made up of five members, with the Court of Auditors and the Bank of Cabo Verde each with one representative.

The Inforpress news agency also reported that the Council of Ministers had approved a bill that creates the legal framework for emigrants, if they wish, to be able to return to the country.
