The Angolan government has authorised the sub-concession of mobile services from Angola Telecom, the country’s third operator, to the company Angorascom Telecomunicações, reports Lusa.
The presidential order does not explain the reasons for the decision, referring only to the need to “ensure the promotion of competition”.
A public tender is currently under way to award a licence for Angola’s fourth telecommunications operator. The deadline for expressions of interest has been extended to 08 December.
