The International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved Thursday, 05, the third grant to Angola of USD 247 million, out of a total of USD 1.48 billion, in the framework of the reform programme agreed with the Angolan Government, ANGOP learned from an institutional source.
The IMF representative in Angola, Marcos Souto, announced this Friday in Luanda during the 9th edition of the Forum on Challenges of Governance of the Digital Age.
One of the disbursements was made in June this year, worth USD 248.15 million, at the time of the conclusion of the first review of Angola’s economic programme, supported by an extended agreement under the Extension Fund (EFF) set up to provide assistance to countries with serious payment imbalances due to structural impediments.
For the senior staff of this financial institution (IMF), Angola’s economic programme remains on track, despite the challenges it will face.
According to the official, Angola continues to face a deteriorated external environment, which is impacting on the economic prospects of the country.
To the IMF, other indicators that focus on improvement, ie progress on several fronts, are the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Act (BC / FT), the Fight against Corruption and the application of the Value Added Tax (VAT), effective since last October.
