The Cabo Verde government has launched an international public tender for submission of expressions of interest to install two solar power plants of five megawatts each on the islands of Sal and São Vicente, according to an announcement from the National Directorate for Industry, Trade and Energy.

The announcement stated that the public tender aims to attract promoters, consortia or partnerships in the private sector to draft, design, build, commission, finance, own, operate and maintain the two solar power plants as independent producers under a “Build, Own, Operate” (BOO) scheme.

The complete portfolio for submission of expressions of interest is available in English at https://www.energiasrenovaveis.cv/

The tender will increase investment in the sector, as the new plants will be added to the solar projects in Calheta de São Miguel, Santa Cruz, Santiago island (10 MW), Ervatão, in the north of the island of Boa Vista (five megawatts) and the Achada Mostarda wind farm in São Domingos (10 megawatts).

These renewable power production projects will increase installed capacity by 35 megawatts, more than doubling the current capacity of 33.6 megawatts.

After the completion of the solar parks, Cabo Verde will produce 68.6 megawatts of energy using solar photovoltaic and wind systems.
