Mozambique officially announces new government

The offices of the Mozambican Presidency has published a communique informing the names appointed to form Filipe Nyusi’s new government.

Carlos Agostinho do Rosário remains the Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane remains Minister of Economy and Finance and Ernesto Max Tonela remains Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy. Celso Correia, formerly Minister of Land, Environment and Rural Development of Mozambique was appointed Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development while Carlos Alberto Mesquita, the former Minister of Transport and Communications was appointed Minister of Industry and Commerce.

The remaining appointments are new as incumbent Ministers although some were part of previous Ministries on different capacities, they are:

Carmelita Rita Namashulua, Minister of Education and Human Development;
Helena Mateus Kida, Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs;
João Osvaldo Machatine, Minister of Public Works and Water Resources;
Verónica Nataniel Macamo Dlhovo, Foreign Affairs and Cooperation;
Margarida Adamugy Talapa, Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security;
Jaime Bessa Neto, Minister of National Defense;
Amade Miquidade, Minister of the Interior;
Armindo Daniel Tiago, Minister of Health;
Augusta de Fátima Charifo Maita, Minister of Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries;
Gabriel Ismael Salimo, Minister of Science and Technology, Higher Education and Professional Technician;
Ivete Maibase, Minister of Land and Environment;
Janfar Abdulai, Minister for Transport and Communications;
Edelvina Material, Minister for Culture and Tourism.

FurtherAfrica has confirmed the list independently. In addition, the government announced the extinction of the Ministry of Land, Environment and Rural Development and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. Although through the same legal provision, the Ministry of Land and Environment and, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development were created.
