The first 1.5 tonnes of corn, produced at Fazenda Vale Silvestre in the Agro-industrial Project “Esopak”, in Curoca municipality, Cunene province, have already been absorbed this month by the national market.
Speaking to Angop, today Friday, in Ondjiva, the farm manager, Mário Rodrigues, said that the corn was sold in the provinces of Huambo Benguela, Luanda and Cunene.
This is the first large-scale harvest on the farm, resulting from the planting of 142 hectares, carried out last August 2019.
Along with this production of white and yellow maize, they are in the stage of maturation in another area of 171 hectares, foreseeing a harvest of 2.5 tonnes until May.
The 40,000-hectare farm has a workforce of 111 employees and is located between the municipalities of Curoca and Ombadja and has the main source of water supply from the Cunene River.
