Africure Pharmaceuticals Ltd. laid a foundation stone to build a $10-million pharmaceutical manufacturing plant at Kilinto Pharmaceutical Industrial Park on the outskirts of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Africure’s plant will manufacture oral solid and liquid dosage formulations, it was learned. The construction of the plant is expected to take a year and a half.

Once completed, the plant will be able to manufacture a billion oral solid (tablets) and 14 million bottles of syrup every year.

Africure has manufacturing facilities in Cameroon, Namibia, Botswana and Côte d’Ivoire, with Ethiopia’s and Zimbabwe’s plants soon to be added to their list, according to the company website.
