Airbus, one of the largest aircraft manufacturer in the world, has given maintenance service of its latest jet Airbus A350 XWB to Ethiopian Airlines Group.

Now the largest aviation group on Africa is entitled to do maintenance for all Airbus A350 XWB fleets with in African continent. This is indicated by Mr Reta Melaku, Maintenance head at Ethiopian Airlines Group, who spoke to the state daily Amharic newspaper, Addis Zemen.

He noted that the acceptance of Ethiopian Airlines Group to provide the service has come after the successful maintenance of four Airbus A350 XWB by Ethiopian technicians recently. When the number of Airbus A350 owned by African airlines will gradually increase, the new service will be an additional revenue stream for Ethiopian Airlines, according to Mr Reta.

In a related development, Ethiopian Airlines Group has placed order for ten Airbus A350 XWB planes in the coming two years, according to Mr Mesfin Tasew, Operations head of Ethiopian Airlines Group. Currently Ethiopian Airlines has a total of 14 Airbus A350 XWB planes.
