Sweden funding Angola’s Dembos electricity sector

Billion US dollars is a value to be made available by the Kingdom of Sweden to finance the electrification project of the Dembos region, in the province of Bengo.

The two-year project begins to be carried out this year, and will benefit 22,000 inhabitants.

The initiative includes the municipalities of Dembos, Bula Atumba, Pango Aluquém, as well as the municipalities of Muxaluando, Gombe, Zala (Nambuangongo), Úcua, Kicabo, Mabubas (Dande) and Bela Vista (Ambriz).

In addition to electrification, five 125 MVA substations, 304 kilometers of 30 and 60 kilovolt transmission lines, four thousand public lighting poles and home connections are expected to be built.

Speaking to the press, at the end of a meeting held with members of the provincial government of Bengo, the Swedish ambassador to Angola, Ewa Polano, said that the funding is secured, with only a few arrangements to be made with the Ministries of Energy and Water and Finance.
