Mozambique’s eight conciliation report on monetary payments and receipts within the extractive industry is due to be published on Friday, the Mozambican press reported.
The report refers to the 2017-18 period and shows monetary in- and outflows about two years ago.
Launched as part of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in Mozambique (EITIM), the report outlines the payments declared by companies and the receipts confirmed by the government.
The mediaFax newspaper reported that in most cases there have been considerable discrepancies in the values that mining companies claim to have paid to the State and that the State confirms it has actually received.
The event, promoted by the government through the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, is attended by public institutions, extractive industry companies, civil society organisations, cooperation partners and academic institutions.
