The mobile electrical substation, under construction in Quibala municipality, coastal Cuanza Sul province, whose works are scheduled to end next June, will help boost economic activity, especially agriculture in the region.
The construction of the infrastructure, with capacity to generate 220/30 kV – 10 Mva, started in April.
Quibala power substation will meet needs such as food conservation, lighting for homes and towns, as well as support for the business activity in the region.
A note from the sector quotes the minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, as having travelled to the province on Friday, May 22.
In his trip, that also covered the northern province of Cuanza Norte, aimed at assessing the progress of Quibala’s electrification works.
The document also makes reference to the beginning simultaneously of the construction of the first phase of the distribution networks in medium and low voltage.
The process includes home connections, which will regularly bring energy to the homes of the local inhabitants from the next months of July and August.
As for the expansion of the electricity network to agricultural farms, a project is underway, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, to execute the medium voltage lines, which will have an approximate extension of 75 kilometers.
The objective is to ensure sustainable development of agriculture, taking advantage of the existing availability of hydroelectric energy from the national electricity grid.
