In order to minimize the negative impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Government of the Republic of Mozambique (GoM), through the Decree No. 37/2020, of June 2nd, has allocated the amount of 1 Billion Metical, intended to finance a Credit Line to reinforce the treasury and/or support investments aimed at promoting the revitalization or operational improvements of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME’s) operating in the national territory, having thus designated the Banco Nacional de Investimento, SA, (BNI), as the managing entity of the aforementioned Credit Line and guarantor of its efficient and effective implementation, according to the objectives defined for that purpose by the Government of Mozambique.

BNI has named this Credit Line “GovCOVID-19”. In the same spirit, and following the common goal of mitigating the impacts of the COVID-19, BNI will provide – through a bond loan by the National Institute of Social Security – a Credit Line called “BNI-COVID-19”.

In this context, and taking into account the great relevance of such measures in the wake of the current crisis, a press conference will take place tomorrow, July 1st, 2020, at 9:00 am, at BNI’s headquarters, to officially launch the two lines of credit, during which event more details will be disclosed:

a) eligibility requirements and access conditions;
b) the points of delivery of financing requests, throughout the country.

The press conference will be chaired by Mr. Tomás Rodrigues Matola, BNI’s CEO. Also in attendance will be additional members of the Executive Committee, Directors and other Technicians duly appointed.
