Rwanda has always taken the lead on the African continent when it comes to matters of digital compliance and there is no disappointment with the latest acquisition for the state broadcaster.
Recently Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA) received the first model of a Streamline S12T OB, a new member of the Streamline family of OB vans on the continent.
According to the Germany manufacturer, “the Streamline S12T is designed as a truck/box body combination with one extension.” The ultramodern OB truck was delivered to RBA only three months after order built and outfitted by German systems integrator Broadcast Solutions.
This giant mobile multi-studio truck can be deployed anywhere on the Rwandan territory to stream live signals to the nation.
It is also fitted with a Lawo mc²56 console with very interesting technical specifications that would be a knockout to competitors on the continent.
Lawo mc²56 virtually dominates the television audio production industry. It expands its power and capabilities, creating the first IP-native audio production to fully support all relevant AoIP standards, from SMPTE 2110 and AES67, to RAVENNA, DANTE or even MADI digital audio streams.

The idea of the new Lawo mc²56 was born in 2018 at a time the German company was seeking to expand its portfolio of solutions to cover virtually every single area of an IP-based content production infrastructure, for any format or distribution platform, Lawo did not forget its core audio solutions.
The new generation Lawo mc²56 mixing console was unveiled at the IBC 2018 show in Amsterdam.
“Lawo is delighted with RBA’s choice of an S12T truck and the decision to equip it with an mc²56 console alongside other top-spec gear,” says Ralf Schimmel, Lawo’s Sales Director for the African continent.
“With well over 1,200 models sold, Lawo’s mc² series has been a staple for OB trucks built in Europe and used the world over—and now Africa is following suit. That this should be in Rwanda, which has been avidly adopting technological evolution, comes as no surprise,” Schimmel says.
Arthur Asiimwe, Director General at RBA, “We were looking for an OB truck that is flexible and quick to use and easy to operate. With this Streamline S12T, we have found the perfect production vehicle for our purposes.”
He added that the fast delivery time and the optimal price-performance ratio of the OB truck were further decisive criteria for contracting Broadcast Solutions with the production and delivery.
