South Africa: Founder Institute opens applications for startup accelerator

The Founder Institute, the world’s largest pre-seed startup accelerator, has announced that its upcoming South Africa Virtual 2020 program is now accepting applications. In an effort to ensure the health and safety of the program’s mentors, partners, and participants, this Founder Institute cohort will be held completely online, allowing anyone to build a business alongside some of Cape Town’s top entrepreneurs and investors from the comfort of home.

Any aspiring entrepreneur or startup team interested in building a technology business is invited to apply to the South Africa Virtual 2020 Founder Institute at  or attend a free online startup event in South Africa.

The South Africa Chapter will be led by local ecosystem leaders Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata Jnr. (Co-founder, GoDo Hub), Jo Eyre (tech marketer and business communication coach), Lara Onafeko (Co-Founder & CEO, Sidney Folarin Consulting), Yongama Skweyiya (Chief Executive, IsimoVest Venture Capital Partners), and will feature many of the region’s top startup investors, founders, and executives as mentors.

Pre-seed startup accelerator program for South Africa

The Founder Institute South Africa Virtual 2020 pre-seed accelerator program begins on 2021-01-26, and aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs looking to build solutions for the future will have the opportunity to:

  • Get constant feedback and regular office hours with 40+ South African Mentors, investors, and entrepreneurs.
  • Make quick progress on their business using a proven, structured process to get to traction and funding that has helped alumni build great products and raise over $950 million in funding.
  • Get fast-tracked to a suite of post-programs, including Funding Lab, to continue getting expert support for years to come.
  • Expand their support network to include startup founders, CEOs, and investors from the Founder Institute’s global network of 4,300+ alumni and 14,000+ mentors across 200+ cities.
