FAO to provide urgent assistance to Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has announced it will provide an ‘Emergency Livelihood support for Internally Displaced People’ in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.

The area has been targeted by terrorist factions purportedly linked to Islamic State-linked al-Shabab extremists, causing entire communities, towns and villages within the affected area to have its inhabitants dislocated from their homes in order to survive.

The FAO aims to provide urgent assistance through an electronic voucher system to over 40,000 vulnerable community members, backed by a US$700k pooled fund.
