The Namibian economy is projected to grow by 2.7 percent, up from an earlier forecast of 2.6 percent, due to better growth prospects in diamond mining, agriculture and transport sectors, the central bank said on Friday.

However, in its latest economic outlook, the bank also warned of the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the domestic economy and the travel restrictions still in place in many countries.

“Other notable risks to the domestic growth outlook include the persistently low international prices for some of Namibia’s export commodities such as uranium, as well as climatic swings,” it said.
