Emerald Group, through its Lisbon-based investment holding company Emerald Europe, has finalised the acquisition of a 68% stake on OPTIME INVESTMENTS – Sociedade de Capital de Risco, SA, bringing its participation to 100% of the firm’s capital.

OPTIME INVESTMENTS was created in December 2016, with the objective of boosting investment in the Private Equity and Venture Capital markets. The move aims to benefit from OPTIME’s 75 years of accumulated experience in these areas, with particular focus on the sectors of industry, food, energy, banking and insurance, technology, infrastructure, tourism, real estate and social entrepreneurship.

Emerald Europe now sets its sights on contributing to the sustainable growth of society, playing an important role in the processes of climate and energy transition, digital transformation and social innovation both regionally and internationally.

By pursuing new approaches and market diversification – while the prospect of a post-Covid-19 future takes shape – OPTIME INVESTMENTS will most certainly benefit from synergies arising from Emerald Group’s network of global partners, with a special focus on the Lusophone market. In this sense, the Portuguese language shall be leveraged as a socio-economic and cultural asset.

Ultimately, Emerald Group’s vision is to bridge the gap between mature markets and emerging economies in Africa, Asia and the Middle East – its current portfolio has the capacity to serve as a convergent platform of resources in these regions.

The Emerald Group, as well as its subsidiary Emerald Europe, are owned exclusively by lawyer and businessman N’Gunu Tiny

About the Emerald Group:
Emerald Group, which is headquartered in Dubai, UAE, is an international investment company that was founded in 2009. The Group’s ambition is to become, in the medium term, a reference in Africa, and in the context of emerging markets, according to the most demanding international standards of transparency and sustainability in the conduct of its business.
