Atlantica Ventures and EchoVC have teamed up to launch the first XTC Africa, a regional competition of the Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC), a global competition for entrepreneurs who use purposeful technology to address the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The XTC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs who are developing new technology and inventions that will help humanity.

The XTC is a non-profit organization that supports and promotes innovators who are using technology to solve the world’s most pressing problems. It is inspired by the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

XTC’s global startup competition provides top contenders with the opportunity for global exposure, the ability to raise money, network with global entities, and obtain mentorship opportunities required to pioneer technological breakthroughs and fuel a sustainable future.

The XTC competition is open to all product or service submissions that are focused on a new technology or a creative implementation of an existing technology created by the submitting company and have the potential to answer one of XTC’s Tech for Good categories.

Agri-tech, food, and water; Cleantech and Energy; Education; Enabling Technologies; Fintech; Healthcare; Transportation and smart cities; and Transportation and smart cities are the seven categories in which competitors can apply their startup.

There’s also a COVID-19 Innovation Award and a Female Founder Award.

Finalists will be notified in early May and invited to attend the XTC virtual bootcamp as well as the final judging for category winners.

Winners in each group will be invited to pitch at the VivaTech Global Finals in Paris in June, where the winners will be revealed.

Application deadline is until April 2nd.

Interested applicants can apply here.
