PC Gabon Upstream S.A. (PCGUSA), a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), has awarded the Denmark-based drilling-rig operator, Maersk Drilling, a one-well ultra-deepwater exploration contract in Gabon.
According to the contract, Maersk Drilling will deploy its 7th generation high-spec drillship, the Maersk Viking, to drill a 2,100-meter ultra-deepwater exploration well in Block F13 offshore Gabon.

The contract represents Maersk’s first drilling campaign in Gabon. Including mobilization and demobilization expenses, the contract is estimated to cost approximately US$24M with operations expected to commence in Q3 2021 for a duration of 60 days.
