Air France has confirmed that flights to Maputo will start from 2 December, 2021. The flight to Maputo will be a continuation of the Johannesburg flight. Originally planned for the end of October 2021, changes in the economic and health environment have led to this postponement.

Wilson Tauro, Air France-KLM Southern Africa Regional Manager, says that Air France remains strongly committed to Africa as a strategic resource in its global network.

“Air France is delighted and proud to announce that we will be adding Maputo to our network next December. Mozambique has emerged as an important commercial destination due to its natural energy reserves. However, tourism is also an asset of the country. Due to our extensive network, we will connect Maputo to major cities in Europe and beyond, including destinations in Portugal, Brazil and Cuba, which are historically popular destinations for Mozambique. With the relief of travel restrictions for vaccinated passengers, a crucial and extremely positive step has been taken to re-establish leisure and commercial markets. We are very confident in the success that the addition of Maputo to our network will bring,” he said.

The launch of the Maputo route is another achievement for Air France, as it increases its African presence to 43 cities across the continent. The overnight departure from Paris-Charles de Gaulle will serve as the perfect route to connect the flight to Maputo, and the morning arrival from Maputo to Paris ensures that passengers can connect to Charles de Gaulle’s first wave of departures to anywhere in the world.

In order to satisfy the Mozambican market, Air France has regular flights throughout the day between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Lisbon and Porto in Portugal. Flight tickets are now available for sale and can be booked through travel agents. Passengers can also contact the Air France Sales and Service Centre to make reservations and obtain information via the email address: mail.esales.mz@airfrance.fr.

Schedule from December 2, 2021

Sundays, Thursdays: Paris-Charles de Gaulle – Maputo

Departure: 11:35 pm / Arrival: 2:20 pm (+1)

Mondays, Fridays: Maputo – Paris-Charles de Gaulle

Departure: 4:30 pm / Arrival: 5:45 am (+1)

Note: Passengers do not disembark in Johannesburg.

The Johannesburg and Maputo route is operated with a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft equipped with refurbished cabins.

In addition to two weekly flights between Paris and Maputo, customers will also be able to benefit from connectivity between the Paris – Johannesburg flights operated by Air France and the Johannesburg – Maputo flights, thanks to the existing interline agreements that Air France has with LAM Mozambique Airlines and Airlink.
