The Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESCTI), Maria do Rosário Sambo, last week pointed out financial investment in infrastructures and human resources as one of the factors for the increase of quality of the higher education sub-system in the country.

According to Maria do Rosário Sambo, who was speaking at the launch of the White Paper on Higher Education, adequate financial investment will strengthen institutional capacity in its various aspects, with the qualification of teachers, researchers and administrative and technical staff, as well as physical and technological infrastructures with social support for students, in a context of good governance practices and institutional assessment.

For the government official, the Covid-19 pandemic demonstrated the fragility of the educational systems and of the national scientific systems and the inexistence or insipience of digital transformation processes in society, as being unfavourable ingredients for resilience.

He said that, with the technical support of the World Bank, an approach would be made for the sustainable development of higher education in Angola, adding “we hope to have a strategic plan whose execution produces lasting results that provide the construction of a solid base for the well-being of current and future generations, by improving the quality of the teaching-learning process, scientific productivity and innovation in the country.
