Have you ever in your wildest dreams thought of a lodge in the desert? What would it look like and what does it offer? Well, &Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge in the Namib Desert answers all this.

The lodge sits still within &BEYOND Sossusvlei Private Desert Reserve, a huge 12,715 hectare (31,419 acre) stretch deep in the Namib.

The Namib Desert is historically the world’s oldest living desert.

How is &Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge Experience?

The total calm and exceptional clarity of light make &Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge one of Africa’s most fascinating panoramas. It is surrounded by an ocean of dunes, rocky outcrops, and gravel plains.

The NamibRand Nature Reserve’s International Dark Sky Reserve borders the concession. It ensures clear, starry skies at night. A beautiful artwork that encourages a reconnection with nature and yourself is all over you at the desert reserve.

At Sossusvlei, sustainability and elegance are inseparable. Located along the escarpment’s curve, the escarpment’s 10 superbly equipped stone and glass apartments provide guests with ever-changing views.

There is a wide retractable skylight above the bed and an en-suite bathroom with a glass-encased rain shower. It gives you 180-degree views of the desert in each enormous air-conditioned suite.

Family or friends can enjoy the two-bedroom Star Dune Suite. Guest rooms on the upper and lower levels are inspired works of glass, rock, and steel.

The desert vistas are unhindered by large glass panels that fold away. A central island bar, a cozy sitting area, a walk-in basement, an interactive kitchen, and a rim-flow pool are just some of the inviting features.

There are also several shady, secluded areas, a gym with a view of the sunrise and a wellness center with a view of the sunset, both of which have treatment rooms with their own private spa baths.

Namibia’s best crafts are on display in the lodge’s Signature Shop.

Why Should You Visit &Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge?

Stargazing

Every night is a feast for the eyes. Thanks to the sophisticated on-site observatory, the cutting-edge Celestron CPC 1100 GPS (XLT) computerized telescope, and the expansive stargazing skylight above your bed.

&Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge sits on the edge of an International Dark Sky Reserve, so stargazing is guaranteed.

There are specialist-guided excursions for the duration of your stay. This guarantees that you get the most out of your desert excursion.

Explore the skies

Take to the skies in a hot air balloon or a helicopter to see the huge desert landscapes that surround the lodge.

As you soar over a sea of craggy mountain peaks and sand dunes, you will see a scene that has stayed virtually untouched for millions of years.

Walk in the dunes

Long Dune’s’ meandering tailbone-shaped crest can be traced all the way across the ancient dunes.

Look out over Sossusvlei’s breathtaking sights as you near the summit alone. Celebrate the occasion by having a picnic breakfast in the park.

Sossusvlei is one of Africa’s most famous sites, situated in the centre of Namib Desert. It has gigantic red dunes surrounding it.

They provide a canvas of beauty that reconnects you with marvellous nature. It is best-known for Namibia’s incredible location. Furthermore, its dunes are among the highest in the world, with the majority exceeding 200 meters.

The iconic landscape of Sossusvlei, with its orange and apricot-coloured dunes, provides some of the most spectacular morning and sunset light reflections.

Climbing the dunes is a must-do on every vacation to Namibia, as it allows you to appreciate the quiet grandeur of the desert.

These cool bikes have an electric ‘assist’ that gives them a boost while they peddle. As you traverse the arid landscape in amazement of your surroundings, you can’t help but smile.

Figure-eight-shaped bike path allows you to choose between an 11.8-mile trip and a shorter 6.2-mile option.

You also get a bag with water, snacks, and a radio for your e-cycling experience. You can also do cycling and hiking – bike and hike – adventure.

These e-bikes are a great way to get some fitness while having fun in a beautiful setting.
