Ethiopia’s Minister of Revenues has collected 196.7 billion birr in seven months, the Minister said. The amount stands at 92.45 percent of the target set for the period.
Lake Ayalew, Ethiopia’s Minister of Revenues, noted that compared to the same period last year, the collected revenue has shown an increase of 16.2 percent.
Out of the 196.7 billion birr collected during the seven-month period, 118.64 billion birr has been secured from local tax, while 78.16 billion birr has been obtained from customs duties.
The achievement has been obtained despite several branches of the Ministry of Revenues being still out of operation due to the raging conflict, Mr. Lake pointed out. He also mentioned the challenge posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
