Angolan ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU) Francisco da Cruzs encouraged Wednesday a major sharing of knowledge and experiences among the African States.

Addressing a Reflection Forum on Unconstitutional Changes of Government, opened Tuesday in Accra, Ghana, the Angolan diplomat spoke of the need to focus on promotion of democracy, based on African values and principles.

Francisco da Cruz said that it has to do with the values that contribute to inclusive governance and sustainable development on the continent.

The Angolan ambassador said that in recent times there has been a growing wave of coups d’état in Africa which raise concern, as they threatens peace, security, stability and the development of the continent by denying the legitimacy of democratically elected governments.

To the representative of Angola, the answer to this challenge involves the observance of national, regional and continental legal instruments, adopted to promote the rule of law, constitutionalism, democracy and good governance in Africa.

The Permanent Representative to AU argued that mitigating the risk of unconstitutional changes of government requires the States to make a renewed effort to comply with the Constitutional Law.

He spoke of more attention on provision of public services, improving the people’s economic/social conditions and greater attention on promoting an environment of political inclusion, a culture of peace and respect for citizenship.
