The 8th Mozambique Mining, Oil & Gas and Energy Conference and Exhibition (MMEC 2022) returned to Maputo today. The event will be held at the prestigious Joaquim Chissano Conference Centre. The main theme of this edition is “Sustainable Development Across the Entire Mineral and Energy Value Chain. Towards a Low Carbon Future”, in a context where the effect of global climate change on Mozambican economic activities has been profound in recent years.

MMEC 2022 will focus on key developments, local content, climate change and emerging policies and projects in Mozambique’s Energy and extractive industries, in a world post-pandemic. It will showcase Mozambique as a business-friendly country where policy reforms are being implemented to encourage the flow of domestic and foreign direct investment into the energy and extractives industry. It will also contribute to achieving the objectives of promoting employment generation, improved foreign exchange earnings and wealth creation in the country.

ExxonMobil looks forward to the first LNG export from Mozambique in 2022 as it progresses on the Rovuma Project. The Coral LNG project, built by Eni, an Italian company, will process natural gas from Area 4, in the Rovuma Basin, near Mozambique. The 3.4m t/yr Coral-Sul floating liquified natural gas (FLNG) vessel has arrived offshore Mozambique in February to continue to operate.

MMEC 2022 is sponsored by Matola Gas Company SA, Gigawatt Moçambique, FNB, ROMPCO, EY, MSAP, officially endorsed by the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy of Mozambique, co-organised by ENH – Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos E.P. and partnered with CTA, INP, CCM, CCIFM, AGMM, FUNAE, EDM and MozParks.

MMEC now in its 8th year, is one of the largest and the longest-running gatherings in Mozambique, bringing together Mozambique public leaders and management in the mining, energy, construction, engineering, legal, and consulting agencies as well as development agency officials at municipal, provincial and central levels of government.

MMEC 2022 expects to attract over 500 industry professionals offering quality business connections to the leaders and dealmakers in the mining and energy industries. MMEC’s highly targeted audience offers a valuable opportunity to network with present and future clients in a casual educational forum. Participants are all seeking opportunities to develop their businesses and find new projects and partners.

The conference is organized by Ame Moçambique LDA., AME Trade Ltd. The two-day event centred around the theme “Sustainable Development Across the Entire Mineral and Energy Value Chain” will assemble experts from the national, regional, and international energy, oil and gas, mining industries to provide insights and analyse the challenges and opportunities in the region.
