The Government of Mozambique has been quietly making moves toward a closer relationship with the country’s private sector.
A few weeks ago, the country’s President Filipe Nyusi held long town hall sessions with private sector associations around the country to hear their concerns and discuss their recommendations.
As the country manages further economic pressure caused by the Ukrainian conflict, market observers are noticing that the Government is making moves to promote a stronger inclusion of key private sector players as part of its strategy to foster better levels of productivity, particularly in sectors with significant imports dependency.

Álvaro Massingue, the CEO of the Mozambican Chamber of Commerce was just the latest figure to meet with the country’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Max Tonela to discuss potential measures to alleviate some of the constraints experienced by the private sector and to make recommendations on how to promote a better business environment.
