Sonangol maintains the deadline of March 2023 for the reception of the first of the two large oil tankers of the Suezmax line, under construction by the South Korean company Hyundai Sambo Heavy Industry (HSHI).
The move is meant to boost the fleet of nine ships.

ANGOP learnt that the announcement was made by the president of Sonangol Marine Service, João de Almeida, on Sonangol’s radio programme “Ngol”.
According to the official, the second tanker will be received in September 2023, both with a capacity of one million barrels of crude oil.
The Suezmax ships, which transit through the Suez Canal with their imposing and enormous barrel transport capacity, will reinforce Sonangol’s international fleet.
“The fleet renewal process is continuous, because if we stop renewing the fleet, in a few years, the ships reach a certain age that may no longer be accepted in the international market”, underlined João de Almeida, adding that some ships are increasing the service life.

With offices in Houston, United States, Sonangol Marine Service, with 26 workers, facilitates the management of ships scattered in various parts of the world.
