The Mozambican government intends to invest 1.3 billion meticais (about 20.3 million US dollars, at the current exchange rate) for the construction of the first production unit of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG cooking gas), at Temane, in the southern province of Inhambane.
With the construction of the production unit, according to the Social and Economic Plan and the State Budget for 2023, the government intends to expand and improve the quality infrastructures that will serve to leverage productive activity in several sectors.

The government, in coordination with the South African multinational SASOL, which is operating the Pande and Temane natural gas fields, expects that the construction of the unit, with a production capacity of 30,000 tonnes of gas per year, will start this year.
The Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) project for the production of gas and power in Temane, which will directly employ 3,000 people, is budgeted at 760 million US dollars, with the capacity to produce 23 million Gigajoules of natural gas per year and 450 megawatts of electricity.
