China will implement zero tariff treatment on 98% of goods from Ethiopia, starting from March 1, 2023, its tariff authority said last week.
Apart from Ethiopia, Burundi and Niger will benefit from the latest zero-tariff treatment, according to the Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua’s report.

The Chinese Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council took the new step to materializing the spirit of China-Africa friendship and cooperation.
It will help the three African countries to accelerate their development, and build an open global economy, the commission added.

China will move further to gradually expand such treatment to all the least developed countries that have established diplomatic ties with China, it added.
