Ethiopian Airlines is set to resume flight services to Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur next week.

Ethiopian has recently ramped up services to Asia, returning to several destinations including Karachi and Singapore in the coming weeks.

Today, the national flag carrier says it will resume passenger flight services to the Malaysian capital as of 25 March 2023.

Located at the mouth of the river Klang, Kuala Lumpur is one of the leading cities in the world for tourism and shopping and ranked 5th in the most-visited city of the world in 2022.

“We are excited to bring our Kuala Lumpur flights back to service,” Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said.

Ethiopian Airlines first commenced its service between Addis Ababa, and Kuala Lumpur, with a thrice-weekly service back in 2012. However, the flight was suspended later in 2021.

Group CEO Mesfin said the resumption of the flights now “reopens convenient and seamless travel options between Kuala Lumpur and more than 60 African destinations” of Ethiopian airlines.

The flight will be operated four times a week with the ultramodern B787 Dreamliner.

“Kuala Lumpur is a destination of choice for both business and leisure travelers, and we are proud to provide a convenient travel option that is suitable for passengers traveling for either of the purposes,” Mesfin said.

“These flights are also one of the channels easing the diplomatic and socio-economic ties between Malaysia and Africa thus, the resumption of the service plays a significant role in the relationship of the two regions.”

Ethiopian has nearly 40 destinations in its Asian flight network and is currently serving more than 145 domestic and international passenger and cargo destinations.
