The grant deal was signed between Finance Minister Ahmed Shide and AfDB’s Deputy Director General East African Region Dr. Abdul Kamara.

The grant incorporates $54 million from the African Development Fund and $20 million from the government of the Netherlands. The rest $10 million and $300,000 come from African OCD and Global Center for Adaptation (GCA), respectively.

The Ministry of Finance says the project aims to improve wheat productivity and production “thereby increasing the incomes of small-scale wheat farmers in Ethiopia”.

The project has three components including a Climate Smart Wheat Productivity and Production. The other two are Market Infrastructure, Linkages and Agri-Finance, as well as Project Coordination and Management.
