The Coca-Cola System in Nigeria, made up of Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited and the Nigeria Bottling Company (NBC), has announced plans to invest $1 billion over the next five years.

This move follows a $1.5 billion investment in the past decade, highlighting Coca-Cola’s confidence in Nigeria’s economic future. The investment will support various parts of the value chain, including suppliers, distributors, and recyclers.

During a meeting at the State House in Nigeria, hosted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Coca-Cola leadership shared their vision. John Murphy, President and CFO of The Coca-Cola Company, expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, emphasizing the importance of local relevance. Zoran Bogdanovic, CEO of Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, noted the company’s commitment to economic growth and job creation in Nigeria, where Coca-Cola has operated for over 70 years.

Coca-Cola’s investments in Nigeria extend beyond business, focusing on community support through programs that provide clean water, better waste management, and youth empowerment. These efforts aim to make a lasting impact on the well-being of local communities. Luisa Ortega, President of Coca-Cola’s Africa Operating Unit, highlighted the importance of working with the government to drive sustainable development.

President Tinubu praised Coca-Cola for its longstanding partnership with Nigeria and its role in job creation. Coca-Cola employs over 3,000 people across nine production facilities and supports an additional 31 jobs for every direct job. The company’s 73-year presence in Nigeria reflects its significant contribution to the country’s socio-economic development.
