Emirates Airlines is ramping up its presence in Africa by adding more flights to key destinations, with new daily routes to Uganda, Ethiopia, and South Africa.
This expansion reflects the airline’s commitment to strengthening African connectivity and addressing growing travel demand. Starting October 27, Emirates has increased flights to Entebbe, upgraded to daily service with its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, adding 718 weekly seats and becoming the only airline offering First Class service to Uganda. This complements Emirates’ recent partnership with the Uganda Tourism Board, aimed at promoting Uganda’s attractions.
In Ethiopia, Emirates will launch daily flights to Addis Ababa from January 1, 2025, supporting the country’s goal of becoming a top tourist destination in Africa. This expansion will make it easier for travelers from the Middle East and Far East to explore Ethiopia’s cultural and natural heritage, aligning with the nation’s growing tourism ambitions.

South Africa will benefit from Emirates’ expanded service starting March 1, 2025, as Johannesburg receives a fourth daily flight, restoring Emirates’ pre-pandemic service levels with 49 weekly flights. This additional morning option supports Johannesburg as a key hub, improving access for both business and leisure travelers and reinforcing Emirates’ commitment to South African tourism.
In total, Emirates will operate 161 weekly flights to Africa by 2025, covering 17 African countries and expanding regional reach through partnerships with Royal Air Maroc, Cemair, and Pro Flight Zambia.
Through robust passenger and cargo operations, Emirates continues to play a central role in enhancing Africa’s air connectivity and supporting tourism and trade across the continent.
