Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has commenced its Nigerian Content Human Capacity Development (NC-HCD) Basic Training Programme for the Train 7 Project, a major initiative aimed at equipping young graduates with industry-relevant skills.
This milestone event took place in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where 331 successful candidates, selected from 848 applicants on the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content (NOGIC) Joint Qualification System (JQS) portal, began their 12-month training. The programme focuses on diverse fields, including ICT, engineering, welding and fabrication, non-destructive testing, and marine and offshore services.
Engr. Joshua Anemeje, NLNG Train 7 Corporate Liaison Manager, expressed pride in the progress of the Train 7 Project, which is 75% complete and employs over 10,000 skilled workers. He emphasised the programme’s potential to empower participants with the skills needed for future career opportunities. The project, set to boost NLNG’s production capacity by 35%—from 22 million metric tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 30 mtpa—represents a significant advancement for Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

Dr. Ikuru encouraged trainees to seize this opportunity to build a strong foundation of technical and practical skills, noting that high-performing participants could expect clear pathways to employment. He also urged other graduates to register on the NOGIC JQS portal for similar training opportunities.
The training, facilitated by the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN), underscores NLNG’s commitment to national development. By fostering a pool of skilled professionals, the programme not only contributes to the Train 7 Project’s success but also enhances the capacity of Nigeria’s broader energy sector to meet future challenges.
