Binance, a global leader in cryptocurrency exchange, has joined forces with AltSchool Africa to offer scholarships to 500 young Africans, empowering them with essential digital skills.

Launching in January 2025 and running through December, the program aims to bridge Africa’s digital skills gap by providing full-tuition scholarships for structured education in high-demand fields such as software engineering, cybersecurity, sales, and content creation. This collaboration underscores the commitment of both organisations to equip Africa’s youth with tools to thrive in the global digital economy.

The scholarships will enable recipients to participate in AltSchool Africa’s structured programs, which are designed to foster practical skills and prepare students for competitive job markets worldwide.

In addition to classroom learning, beneficiaries will have access to mentorship, career support, and hands-on training to ensure a comprehensive understanding of their chosen fields. This holistic approach to education is intended to position African youth as leaders and innovators in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.

The partnership comes at a critical time as Sub-Saharan Africa faces a growing digital skills gap. According to the International Finance Corporation (IFC), an estimated 230 million jobs in the region will require digital skills by 2030, yet only 2% of the workforce currently possesses them. Binance and AltSchool Africa’s initiative is a proactive step toward addressing this disparity, offering young Africans the expertise needed to secure roles in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and contribute to a more inclusive digital economy.

Samantha Fuller, Spokeswoman for Binance, expressed the company’s excitement about the initiative, stating, “Technology is a powerful tool for change, and we believe that by investing in education, we are investing in the future of Africa.” This scholarship program aligns with Binance’s broader social impact efforts, leveraging its resources to foster innovation and inclusivity while shaping the next generation of tech leaders in Africa. The initiative reflects Binance’s belief in the transformative power of education to drive economic development.

AltSchool Africa, a platform dedicated to nurturing digital skills across the continent, lauded the partnership as a game-changer. Nifemi Akinwamide, Head of Global Operations at AltSchool Africa, highlighted the program’s potential to reach more young Africans passionate about building careers in the digital economy.
