South African Internet of Things (IoT) startup Sensor Networks has entered a strategic partnership with Ariston, the world’s largest geyser manufacturer, to introduce advanced smart water heating solutions to South African households in 2025.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in energy-efficient home technology, integrating locally developed IoT innovations with Ariston’s globally recognized water heating systems.

Revolutionizing Water Heating Through Smart Technology

Founded in 2015, Sensor Networks has developed a smart geyser platform designed to assist insurance companies in reducing risk through the deployment of low-cost smart sensors. The company’s integrated IoT platform helps homeowners and businesses optimize energy consumption, leading to lower electricity bills and enhanced efficiency.

This partnership follows months of intensive product development, testing, and certification, ensuring that Sensor Networks’ smart geyser devices meet global standards. The new Ariston geysers, equipped with Sensor Networks’ smart technology, will be available across major plumbing retailers in South Africa.

Key Benefits of the Smart Geyser Technology

The integration of Sensor Networks’ smart technology with Ariston’s geysers will offer multiple benefits for consumers and insurers, including:

• Remote Control & Monitoring: Homeowners can manage their water heating schedules using the Sensor Connect mobile app, helping them optimize electricity usage and lower costs.

• Energy Savings: By leveraging IoT technology, the smart geysers will reduce unnecessary energy consumption, offering significant long-term savings.

• Risk Mitigation for Insurers: The system helps detect leaks and faults early, preventing costly damage and insurance claims.

• Environmental Sustainability: Smart geysers contribute to carbon footprint reduction by promoting energy efficiency.

A Landmark Partnership for South African Innovation

Mark Allewell, CEO of Sensor Networks, hailed the partnership as a breakthrough moment for South African innovation in the global energy efficiency sector.

“This partnership is a triumph for South African innovation. As a local startup, we have developed a smart geyser solution that meets global standards, and to have our technology integrated into Ariston’s product line is an incredible achievement. This collaboration enables us to scale our impact, helping thousands more South Africans reduce their energy costs and carbon footprint.”
